Polarcirkel Expands Design

Polarcirkel AS partnered with Nova Sea AS, Norway, to design and build a Cabin Workboat for transporting personnel out to fish farming feed barges, even in the harshest weather conditions.Designated the Polarcirkel 860 Cabin Workboat, MS Nova Polar is built to the standard 28 ft 3 inch Polarcirkel limit, with the 10 ft beam providing a great working deck and a huge cabin with lots of head room and all round visibility.Under the floor aft is a single Volvo Penta D6 series 5.5 liter diesel engine rated at 370 hp.  The engine drives an UltraJet 305 waterjet via a ZF220 gearbox to give the boat her shallow draught and manoeuvrability.  During sea trials the Polarcirkel 860 achieved 30 knots. The hull has retained Polarcirkel’s traditional lines and rugged construction. With safety being a priority Polarcirkel boats are self-bailing and in contrast to a conventional RIB, have rigid pontoons filled with polystyrene combined with the 21o V-shaped hull and low center of gravity.Nova Polar also comes outfitted with a Capstan winch capable of lifting 300 kg, a Raymarine E80 gps with radar  and echo sounder, Seago offshore life raft, Seematz search light and much more. Located in Mo I Rana, Norway, PolarCirkel has built workboats for the Norwegian fisheries since 1987, using HDPE-100 plastic (LNG-based) which has excellent recycling properties. In the last 20 years they have built over 1000 workboats.Nova Polar 860 Workboat Specifications:Type of Vessel: Cabin WorkboatBuilder:  PolarCirkel AS, Norway.Owner:  Nova Sea AS, Norway.Hull: V-bottom 21oConstruction: Polyethylene HDPE-100Length:  28 ft 3 inchBeam: 10 ftDisplacement: 7,940 lbsEngine: Volvo  Penta D6 370 hp 5.5 liter dieselPropulsion: UltraJet 305 with hydromechanical reverse controlsGearbox: ZF220Speed: 30 knotsCrew: Max 8 personsWinch: CapstanRadar & Echo Sounder: Raymarine E80 gpsSearch light: SeematzBowlight: XenonHeater: Mikuni diesel
